Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Lu Leslan, also known as KaiLi Yang, has cultivated a rich and diverse background in music and the arts. From a young age, she immersed herself in both Eastern and Western musical traditions, developing a profound appreciation and mastery of these cultural expressions. Lu’s passion for music led her to Arizona State University, where she graduated with a degree in piano performance.

From 1990 to 2000, Lu lived in South Korea and Taiwan, where she dedicated herself to teaching music. Her decade-long experience in these countries allowed her to refine her teaching methods and develop a deep understanding of the educational needs of both children and adults.

In 2001, Lu returned to Seattle and established her own teaching studio. With a wealth of experience, she has since been inspiring and guiding students of all ages in their musical journeys. Her dedication to fostering a love for music in her students is evident in her personalized approach and her ability to connect with learners on a personal level.

In 2009, Lu’s creative journey took a new direction when she met Professor Ingrid Clarfield from Princeton, New Jersey. This encounter sparked her interest in filmmaking, and by 2011, she released her first documentary, “Take a Bow - The Ingrid Clarfield Story,” which received critical acclaim. This film highlighted her ability to tell powerful and inspiring stories through the lens of a camera.

Lu’s unique blend of skills in music education, filmmaking, and travel experiences positions her as a multifaceted educator and storyteller. She is passionate about lifelong learning and believes in the transformative power of exploring new cultures and perspectives.
